The Terminate the Rate campaign has flown past the 100,000 signatures mark as people continue to back the initiative to lower Mobile Termination Rates (MTRs)!

101,466 people have now signed the petition to lower MTRs lending their support and joining over 50 campaign partners that include amongst others MoneySupermarket.com, the Post Office, the Federation of Small Businesses, Carers UK, the GMB Union and National Union of Students. Beside this, 198 MPs have also signed an Early Day Motion that calls for the high cost of MTRs to be addressed.

John Petter, MD Consumer, BT retail said of passing 100,000 signatures,

“To have over 100,000 people sign our petition really shows that the British public has had enough of high Mobile Termination Rates.

There is now widespread agreement that cutting termination rates to around a penny or less will give customers the lower prices and unlimited call packages they want. The big four mobile companies should heed the strength of public feeling and act now to right this wrong, rather than waiting for the regulation to change in 2011.”

A big thank you to everyone who has got involved so far, and if you’re yet to do so what’s keeping you? Sign the petition here.
